Great Expectations star Holliday Grainger, recently on screens in Cinderella and The Finest Hours, is attached to star in Animals, which marks Australian director Sophie Hyde’s first film following Sundance and Berlin winner 52 Tuesdays in 2014.

“I’m delighted to find this kind of material and so thrilled to be collaborating with the compelling Holliday Grainger who I believe will seriously impress with this fearless and fun leading role.

Brocklehurst commented: “Animals is a furiously funny and filthy story about the choices that young women make: who their allies are, which female ‘role’ they will choose to play, and how they will manage their own bodies and behaviour against social scrutiny.”

Grainger is represented by Troika, WME and managers LBI Entertainment. Hyde is repped by UTA and managers Mosaic while Emma Jane Unsworth is represented by Curtis Brown.

Holliday Grainger (Cinderella) and Max Irons (Woman In Gold) are to join Charlotte Rampling (45 Years) in Jane Austen adaptation Sanditon, which is due to shoot in the UK in June.

The adaptation of Jane Austen’s never-before dramatised final novel will be directed by Jim O’Hanlon (A Hundred Streets), director of the 2009 BBC TV adaptation of Austen’s Emma.

Script comes from British playwright Simon Reade who produces with Guy de Beaujeu for Fluidity Films (Private Peaceful). Goldcrest Films will finance and handle sales.

In Sanditon, when Charlotte Heywood (Holliday Grainger) is invited by eternal optimist and entrepreneur Tom Parker to spend the summer season at Sanditon she accepts immediately, intrigued to see (not so) polite society at play in the newly fashionable sea bathing resort.

There she meets a host of classic Austen characters from the imperious nouveau-riche Lady Denham (Rampling) to her impoverished ward Clara, and from the lecherous Sir Edward, to the dashing, feckless Sidney Parker (Max Irons) and his hypochondriac sisters.

Actress Holliday Grainger still can’t believe she has a stylist.

The 27-year-old star found early success playing various characters on British TV shows, before hitting the Hollywood big time with period films like Jane Eyre, Anna Karenina and Great Expectations.

She’s now a fully fledged A-lister, which means she has a stylist on hand to help her dress for red carpet events.
“If you would have told me two years ago that I’d have a stylist I would have been like, ‘shut the f**k up. Who do you think you are?’” she laughed to Britain’s Marie Claire magazine. “But Rebecca Corbin-Murray offered to sort out clothes for me for BAFTA this year for free and it was so lovely and easy. You can literally say, ‘This is the kind of look I want’, and someone will do your shopping for you. And I hate shopping!”

Her dislike of shopping means Holliday only ever picks things up when she needs to kill time, including when she’s waiting for a flight. In fact at one stage the Cinderella actress’ wardrobe was completely dominated by airport purchases.

“I tend to only shop at airports when there’s that hour before your flight,” she explained. “There was a period of my life where my entire wardrobe was from Mango, because I was flying from Manchester airport a lot and at the time I was the only shop there I liked. Now if it’s from Heathrow it’s Zara or Fat Face – I have so many Fat Face swimming costumes.”

Up-and-coming British actress Holliday Grainger is in final negotiations to join the cast of Roger Michell’s My Cousin Rachel opposite Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin for Fox Searchlight. The film is an adaptation of the classic Daphne Du Maurier novel. The dark romance revolves around Philip, a young orphan, who believes his mysterious, beautiful cousin Rachel may have been responsible for the murder of his beloved guardian Ambrose, also a cousin of theirs. As Philip plots his revenge, he finds his feelings complicated as he falls under Rachel’s beguiling spell.

The book, originally published in 1951, was previously adapted into a film starring screen legends Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton and directed by Henry Koster (Harvey).

Grainger’s star is on the rise, following performances in Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club, Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella and holding her own opposite Casey Affleck and Chris Pine in The Finest Hours. She next stars in Tulip Fever opposite Alicia Vikander, Cara Delevigne and Christoph Waltz.
